Killed in action during Operation Iraqi Freedom when an explosive device struck his vehicle in Hallia, Iraq. U.S. Army Sgt. Gregory Belanger, was with the 325th Military Intelligence Battalion attached to the 94th Regional Readiness Command, USAR.

He loved to cook and once prepared a meal for former President Bill Clinton with other students. He graduated from Johnson and Wales University in 2001 with a degree in culinary arts before entering the Army as a cook.

He is survived by his parents, Edward and Kathleen Wittmer Belanger, his brother Jeffrey M. and sister Allison R. Belanger.

He is also survived by his fiancer Tara J. Woundy, whom he met in college and planned to marry on April 1, 2004.
