Paris O'Neal Beck was born to John F. Beck & Jennie Bayles Beck in Vandalia, Fayette, Illinois. His mother died in 1913 and he took her loss so badly as a young boy. But, the extended Beck family gave him the love and support he needed growing up. His grandfather, James A. Beck owned a mercantile store in Vandalia and that is where "Pete" honed his skills in salesmanship. Later he worked at the Broadway Hollywood in the furniture department after moving his family, wife Hazel Ancell Beck and three sons to California in 1939. He enjoyed long walks in the desert, singing in a barber shop quartet and running P.O. Beck Furniture Store. He died young of a genetic heart valve problem. He was loved by all and always said, "nothing is too good for my boys." he died at the age of 51 years old.
