Adrienne Georgia (Bizgia) Wood, 85, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011. She was born in Brooklyn on Feb. 22, 1926 to Agnes and Irving Bizgia. She was raised in Brooklyn with fond memories with her cousins at Brighton Beach and Coney Island. She met her future husband, Kenneth, when she was four, on a trip to Ellenville, where she spent many summers. Then on a return trip during the summer of 1945, they reconnected and had their first date on July 11, 1945. Kenneth asked her to stay at the end of the summer and they married in the Ellenville Reformed Church on Nov. 28, 1945. After 57 years of a remarkable marriage; Ken predeceased her on July 12, 2003. And now they are together again. During their marriage she helped manage Ken Wood, Inc. Many people will remember her for the many years she worked at the Ellenville National Bank, first as a teller and then a courier. Many of her grandchildren have fond memories of running the back route with her. Her children, grandchildren and extended family were her life. She is survived by her daughter, Dianne Paulson and her husband Kenneth of Stone Ridge; her son, Frank Wood and his wife Jane of Ellenville; she was predeceased by her son, Ricky P. Wood in 1974. She is also survived by her five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; Katrina Antonovich and her husband Henry and their children Jacob and Adrienne of Fairfax, Vt., Scott Paulson and his wife Kirsten and their son Cayden of Victor, Idaho, Ricky T. Wood and his wife April of Hurleyville and their children Ashlin and John, Rebecca Wood and her fiancé Rick Braun of North East, Md., and Kristen Paulson and her fiancé Andy Holt of Pompano Beach, Fla., and was an honorary grandmother to Nicolle Vasquez of North Miami. Nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends and family all who will miss her terribly also survive her. She was an amazing, special woman who touched the lives of so many, she will be missed forever.
Funeral services will be held Monday 10:30 a.m. at the George J. Moylan Funeral Home, Inc. 2053 Route 32, Rosendale, N.Y. 12472. GJMoylanFuneralHome.com Rev. Caroline Berninger will officiate. Interment will be in Fantinekill Cemetery, Ellenville.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
