Orton Landrith was born southwest of Waverly, Morgan county, Illinois. He was age 24 as was Bertha Louise Schuttler when they married on April 15, 1908 in Bartlett, Labette county, Kansas. Bertha and Orton had six children.

The following is a 1918 newpaper clipping, newspaper unknown:
"O.H. Landrith announces in this issue for the office of county clerk. Mr. Landrith as register of deeds has proven his efficiency in that office and would, no doubt, handle the office of clerk in the same manner. He is well known over the county and has many friends."

Eugene Landreth's book, "Forebears and Descendants of Landreth Pioneers" gives the following info:

Orton lived in Macoupin Co., Illinois and also Morgan County, Illinois early in his life, then later in Kansas. He worked many years in the Court House in Greensburg, Kansas, was the Health Officer in El Dorado, Kansas. He ran the Oldsmobile/Buick Agency in Newton, Kansas. At one time he was the area manager of Standard Oil Co., that covered a great portion of Kansas and part of Oklahoma. He ended up as a marketeer, and was Superintendant. of the Sunday School in the Greensburg Christian Church, a very talented and busy man.
