Paul Rominger Barnaby was the eldest of five known children of the Rev. Alvin Paul Barnaby (1865-1906) and Lilian (Lily, Lillie or Sallie) M. (or D.?) Rominger (1868-1946), who married 30 Mar 1890 at Hartsville, Bartholomew County, Indiana. After Alvin died, Lillie remarried to Scott Francis Crist (1858-1931) on 18D ec 1919 at Decatur County, Indiana but had no known additional children.

Paul first married to Helen Virginia (went by Virginia) Beall (1891-1972) on 13 Jun 1916 at Washington D.C. Paul and Virginia were the parents of three known children, namely:

  1. Miriam A. Barnaby Hall (19171-975)
  2. Justine Ellen Barnaby Scott (1918-1992)
  3. living? daughter Barnaby (c1924-???)

After Paul and Virginia divorced, Paul remarried to Mary Emma Elizabeth Heltzer Blake (1907-1979) and had two known additional children:

  1. Paul Thomas Barnaby (1943-2005)
  2. living son Barnaby (1947-???)

in 1917 Paul was working for the railroad with wife and child. In 1920 Paul (a railroad fireman), Virginia, Mariam and Justine were living at Washington D.C. In 1930 Paul (a typewriter salesman), Virginia and the first three daughters (all born in Maryland) were living at Baltimore, Baltimore County, Maryland. They later lived at Abingdon, Maryland in 1946. In 1940 Mary Blake (listed as divorced) and two Blake daughters were living at York, York County, Pennsylvania. In 1950 Paul, Mary, Paul Thomas, a younger son Barnaby, and two Blake step-daughters were living at Havre de Grace, Harford County, Maryland.

Paul was in the U.S. Navy and served on the Great White Fleet that sailed around the world. He is reported to have driven a limousine for the performer Al Jolson.  He had his own business for a period repairing typewriters and later worked for the railroad.  Paul stated that as a boy, he was staying with his grandfather, the Bishop Horace Thomas Barnaby and Orville and Wilbur gave him a job in their bike shop.  He said he accompanied them to Kitty Hawk and watched the first flight and had the remains of one of the bikes used for the craft.  The Bishop and Milton Wright were both on the board of the United Brethren Church.
