Jewell Marie Turney, 76, of Pekin, passed away Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, at Kindred Hospital in Peoria.

She was born Aug. 3, 1935, in Jackson, Tenn., to Clifford F. and Jewell E. Massengil Terry.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and three sisters.

She is survived by seven children, Arletta (Kent) Shaw of Washington, Barbara (Phillip) Grey of Port Orchard, Wash., William (Tarcy) Turney of rural Farmington, Jerry (Geniver) Turney of Peoria, Terry (Steve) Jannsen of Springfield, Ohio, and Zelma Hall and Allan (Lisa Davis) Turney, both of Pekin; 26 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Hazel Williams of Springfield.

She worked for Social Services for the State of Illinois.

Cremation was accorded and a celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10, at the Embassy Suites in East Peoria; dress is casual.

Memorial contributions may be made to Santa's Hospital Helpers.

The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co., Pekin/Peoria, is in charge of arrangements.
