Gaines R. Starling, 79, of Hanson died Tuesday.
The service will be at 2 p.m. today at Pine Grove Cemetery in Madison.
A native of Ware County, Ga., and longtime resident of Hanson, he had been a truck driver and farmer. During World War II, he served as an engineer in the Army Corps of Engineers in Panama and Guam.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Starling of Hanson; two sons, Bill -Rollins of Rochester, N.Y., and Gaines R. Starling Jr. of Hanson; three daughters, Donna Rollins of Madison, Linda Dougan of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Peggy McGhin of Jasper; a sister, Wilma Raines of Greenville; and six grandchildren.
