Clara was born on October 6, 1889 to Charles Hatch and Cora Etta Wolcott Billinghurst. She was married to Elery Lawrence O'Dell, for five years to this union four children, Gladys I. O'Dell; Flossie Loretta O'dell Rathbun; Clifford Elton O'Dell Sr.; Edward O'Dell .

divorced, Elery later remarried and had three more children, Louise; Frances; Robert O'Dell.
