Pearl City, Ill. – Simon Ferdinand Plager, 76 years old, a lifelong resident of Pearl City, passed away yesterday, January 3, 1930 at his home, death being due to a heart attack.

(Alice Horner's note: His parents were Simon and Caroline Ploeger. Their children used both the Ploeger and Plager spellings of their surname. Simon Plager's obituary in 1930 has it spelled Ploeger, but his wife Minnie's was spelled Plager. Their son Raymond's is spelled Ploeger. I have kept Raymond's spelled Ploeger largely because he didn't marry. But his father's name I've changed to Plager, since the Plager spelling is used in obituaries after his death which refer to him. I didn't personally know this family in the 1930-1960 era, so I don't know which spelling they used.)

Mr. Plager is survived by his widow and four daughters, all of Pearl City, and Mrs. Ben Eichmeier of Freeport. (Alice Horner's note: No, it doesn't name those four daughters; his wife Minnie's obituary names three of them, but one of them is deceased by then.) Four brothers and three sisters also survive; Fred, Louis, and John Ploeger of Pearl City; and William of Sunderland, Iowa; Mrs. Fred Klipping and Mrs. Fred Krugjohann of Pearl City, and Mrs. Adam Kuhlemeyer of Freeport. (Alice Horner's note: Krugjohann was also spelled Krugjohan and in the next generation, Krugjohn. Kuhlemeyer is spelled any number of ways, including Kuhlmeier, Kuhlmeyer, Kuhlemyer, etc.)

Funeral service will be held from the late home Sunday afternoon at 1:15 o'clock and from Sabin's church at 2 o'clock, the Rev. Schwartz officiating. Burial will be in Sabin Church Cemetery.
