Surviving are his devoted wife, Maxine Jones Briggs; daughter, Shauna J. Friend (Ken); two sons, Sherrod N. (Ronke) and Sherrell A. (Danika) Briggs; two sisters, Sylvia Craighead (William) and Annette Thornton (Elte) of Myrtle Beach, SC; five grandchildren; mother-in-law, Malinda L. Winston; seven sisters-in-law; eight brothers-in-law; one uncle; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, devoted, John Wingfield.
Mr. Briggs was employed by Philip Morris USA for 30 years, and was presently employed by the Department of Corrections.
Remains rested at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 23, 2008, 12 noon at Greenwood Baptist Church, 13637 Greenwood Church Road, Ashland, VA, with Pastor Todd B. Winston officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
