Confederate Officer And Texas Ranger. Killed a carpetbagger and son when the son attacked him. Spent many years evading capture, moving his family from place to place. turned himself in in his old age. Sheriff took him to Bonham, to the hotel, not the jail. Judge heard the case, and returned the verdict, "not guilty. Wasn't nothin' but a couple of Yankees anyway!" Clovis Marie BYARS HERRING Researched and published all this in a Magazine. She had a Marker put on his grave. I'd love to see a picture of it.
