"Another Gospel Trumped Gone From Methodist Pulpit -- Rev. David P. Lamb, son of Rev. and Mrs. J.R. Lamb of Greeneville, Tenn., was born Feb. 26 1844. Departed this life March 2, 1926 at 8:15 a.m., age 82 years 4 days. Rev. D.P. Lamb was married at the age of 23 to Miss Mary M. Waddell, Sept. 1, 1867. To this union there was born 5 children, four daughters and one son, Isabel, Liba, Maggie, Eva, and Madison. Mrs. Lamb and two of the daughters have gone on before. There remains three children, seven grandchildren, a host of friends, and more distant relatives who sustain an inexpressible loss in this very devoted father, grandfather, friend and faithful minister of God. Rev. Mr. Lamb joined this church at an early age and for forty-two long years he has told the Gospel in a most graceful and forceful way. One of his converts stated in broken tones and tears at his funeral, "Forty years ago I was converted under his preaching." Rev. Mr. Lamb will be greatly missed in Madison County, NC, where he spent his faithful Christian life work. May the presence of God sustain the bereaved ones in this great sorrow of theirs and ours. -- Rev. A.A. Angel"
David Page Lamb was a veteran of the Civil War, serving with 3 of his brothers in the 29th Tennessee Infantry under General Braxton Bragg.
