Information on Pacific Isles' Crews Offered

Relatives of Douglas county men on Midway, Guam, and Wake islands were asked by Ray B. Compton, local attorney, to call his office for information concerning the safety of the men. As soon as information is received, relatives will be notified, Mr. Compton said.
Mr. Compton was the Douglas county representative of the construction company which employed the men on the Pacific islands, and will receive official word from the company headquarters.
An announcement over station KRNR Wednesday evening resulted in 19 calls, Mr. Compton said, although it is known there are more than that number of men from Douglas county on the islands. Relatives of 14 men on Wake island, and relatives of five on Midway requested information, he stated.
According to information received by Mr. Compton, a number of men had been transferred to Midway from Guam and Wake just before the Japanese attack.
Mr. Compton states he believes the following list of men on Wake island is complete, but that the Midway list is not complete.
Wake Island: Richard S. Crenshaw, Eugene Hargis, Eldon Hargis, Theron J. Harris, Burdette Harvey, Kenneth Hopkins, Richard C. Johns, Morton T. Kelly, Lloyd Nelson, Wesley McCullogh, James E. Quigley, Alfred Ramsey, Harold E. Smith, and Woodrow W. Whittenberg.
Midway Island: Allen S. Blake, W. Verdun Boucock, Ivar Nelson and Donald P. Wright.
