Homer Buren Brown, son of Lela Kirkland and Charles Thomas Brown, married Mattie Ann Wilburn, daughter of Felix Galimon Wilburn and Rosa Victoria Eddins. They were married on October 5th, 1921 in Shelby County, Texas. They had seven known children together.

The 1930 US-Census for San Patrice, Sabine Parish, Louisiana list: Homer Brown age 32, Married-Head of Household-Cotton Farmer, wife Mattie age 28 and three children; Vetres age 9, Beatrice age 5, and Howard age 2. (They are living next door to his brother, Robert Brown's family, and next to his newphew, O.G. Brown's family. O.G. is Robert Brown's son.)

On June 15th, 1959 in Shelby County, Texas Homer married his 2nd wife, Sarah Goodwyn Lout, the daughter of John Bailey Goodwyn and Nora Bell. This was also Sarah's 2nd marriage.

Note: Homer's parents were married April 21st, 1887 in West Hamilton, Shelby County, Texas. It was the 1st marriage for his mother Lela and the 2nd marriage for his father Charles, who was 33 years her senior. Charles and Lela had four known children together. Charles married his 1st wife Susan Catherine Griffin on December 15th, 1859 in Alabama. Susan died December 20th, 1879, they had eight known children together.
