Virginia Adams, 90, of Weston, W.Va., departed this life into the arms of her loving Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007, at the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston.
Virginia was born on June 30, 1916, at Denver, Colo., a daughter of the late George W. and Laura Jane Garrison Adams. She graduated from Harrisville HIgh School with the class of 1934 and later graduated from Glenville State College with an A.B. degree and West Virginia University with an M.A. degree in education. She had served as president of the American Association of University Women and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an honor society for teachers. Virginia was a public school teacher for nearly 40 years, having begun her teaching career in a small, one-room school at Bartlett in Ritchie County. She had served at Pennsboro Elementary as both teacher and principal and retired from public education working in Lewis County at Polk Creek, Alum Bridge and Roanoke also as principal. She very much enjoyed attending the Pullman High School reunion on an annual basis and preparing food for family visits on the holidays. She had been a member of the Baptist Church at Auburn, W.Va., and had attended the First Baptist Church of Weston.
She is survived by a brother, George W. Adams Jr. of McMurray, Pa.; sister, Eugenia Limparis of Weston; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, with the Rev. Harlan Hodge officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Union Cemetery, Doddridge County, W.Va. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
