CAROLINA SOPHIA ERIKSDOTTER
Andrew J Johnson was born January 15, 1830 in Gissebo, Hjorted Parish, Kalmar, Sweden to Jaen Olofsson and Stina Nilsdotter. Andrew was christened January 17, 1830 at Hjorted Parish in Kalmar Sweden. Then on December 24, 1865 in Alsarp, Vena, Kalmar Sweden he married Carolina Sophia Eriksdotter the daughter of Erik Svensson and Christina Maria Eriksdotter. To this union nine children where born John Erick (Andersson) Johnson being born in Sweden. With the hunger in Sweden Andrew requested flyttningsbevis (permission) from his parish to bring his family to (as they called it)" Amerika". With papers in hand they headed for the Port of Departure in Göteborg Sweden on May 10, 1867 and arrived in New York then on to Kansas. The Family settled in the Swedish communities in and around Salina in Saline County Kansas where Andrew became a farmer. Carolina kept house and raised their children. On March 13, 1911 Carolina passed away. Andrew soon retired passing on December 12 1912. For the love of a family I wish them well in their new journey until we all meet again.
