US Congressman. He taught school in Bath, New York in 1811, was postmaster of Bath and county clerk of Steuben County, New York. Studying law, he was admitted to the bar in 1823, practiced law in Bath, was district attorney of Steuben County, and a member of the New York State Assembly in 1832. In 1833, he was elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-third Congress, serving until 1835. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he was again district attorney of Steuben County, and practiced law until his death.
