Convicted Criminal. Francis "Two-Gun" Crowley was an American “gangster wannabe” and cop killer. He was the boy who caused the infamous "Siege of 90th Street.” His crime spree lasted nearly three months, ending in a two-hour shootout with the New York Police Department on May 7, 1931. He was captured, sent to trial, and found guilty of first degree murder of a police officer. Born on Halloween of 1911 in New York City, he was executed in the electric chair at Sing Sing prison January 21, 1932 at the age of 19 years old. He looked more like a boy at 5 foot 5 inches tall. He always carried two guns on him, hence the nickname. James Cagney's 1949 film, "White Heat" is partly based on Crowley's real life story. In 1925 his older brother John was killed by police in a shootout after John had alleged killed a police officer; Francis was 12 years old at the time. He was the second child of an unwed mother and was placed for adoption the day he was born.
