`Mr. and Mrs. George Schollenberger, 308 South Clifton Avenue. Before her marriage, Mrs. Schollenberger was Miss Carolyn Eighme Bishop. Mr. Schollenberger is a member of the Wichita Club, Rotary, and Board of Commerce, Shriner and is a director in the Wichita League of Social Service. Miss Dorothy Schollenberger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Schollenberger, will be a sophomore at Kansas University in the fall of 1921 and is a Chi Omega. Interview with George H. Schollenberger regarding the first gasoline auto in Wichita. Says his company is the oldest auto company in the southwest. They started in 1899 as a bicycle company and in December 1900 brought the gasoline automobile to Wichita. In 1901 they sold only one car, and that was to George Meredith, who was then connected to the company. There was an auto before that one, but it was a steam-driven vehicle
owned by A. S. Parks. In 1902 the company sold five cars and 19 in 1903. Now there are 17,000 autos listed by the county treasurer. Wichita Beacon, February 19, 1922, magazine section page 3.
