Jasper Nanning Dekker was the Captain of the merchant ship Henriëtta Louise. Married with Neeltje Mets in the year 1837. On 26 February 1860, after meeting friends in Yokohama Hotel he went together with Captain de Vos into Honcho Dori to buy some food for next day. Suddenly both captains were attacked by some Japanese and killed.

He was 48 years when he got killed and not 40 years as is mentioned on the grave.
