Mr. William Bobby Abercrombie, age 60, of the Life Care Center in Ducktown, TN passed away on Tuesday August 2, 2011. Mr. Abercrombie was born in McCaysville, GA to the late Ivan Rufus and Connie Gray Abercrombie. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam war. He had worked for the U.S. Postal Service and was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Abercrombie had suffered from injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident twenty one years ago and had been lovingly cared for by his two sisters, Kathleen Sayers and Virginia Helton ever since. He was also preceded in death by two infant sons. Survivors include one daughter, Casey Leeann Abercrombie; two grandchildren; brothers and sister-in-laws, Harold and Margaret Abercrombie of Theodore, AL, David and Mildred Abercrombie of Mentor, OH and Lynn and Teresa Abercrombie of Postelle, TN; sisters and one brother-in-law, Virginia and Buster Helton of McCaysville, GA, Kathleen Sayers of McCaysville, GA, Margie Davis of Ducktown, TN and Karen Abercrombie of Calhoun, GA; a very special friend, Sherry Milstid of Pensacola, FL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be Saturday August 6, at 1:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Delmar Davenport and Rev. Jackie Buchanan officiating. Music will be provided by Terry Brown and Jessie & Lena Hill. The following gentle have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Bobby Sayers, Buster Helton, Butch Anderson, Steve Allen. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Doug Akins, Kevin "Woody" Woodward, Ed McKowan, Stacy Davis and Lynn Abercrombie.

Interment will follow in the Van Hook Cemetery with military honors provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday and Friday evenings after 5:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
