Dr. Fliehr graduated from the University of Minnesota with the Degree of Medical Doctor. He served in the United States Navy from 1941-1945. After being honorably discharged, Dr. Fliehr returned to Minneapolis to practice Obstetrics and Gynecology with the firm Haugen, Fliehr, and Meeker.
Dr. Fliehr also obtained a Masters Degree in Theatre and Arts at the University of Minnesota. He was affiliated with the Theatre in the Round Players for many years. He directed and performed in many plays while still practicing medicine. Dr. Fliehr also served as President of the Theatre in the Round Players and was active, as well as President, of the American Community Theatre Association.
Dr. Fliehr was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, and a member of Masonic Lodge #277 AF & AM.
Dr. Fliehr is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Kathleen K. Fliehr, who resides at the Carriage Club in Charlotte, NC; his son, Richard M. Fliehr, and his wife, Elizabeth, of Charlotte, NC; and four grandchildren: Meagan, David, Ashley, and Reid Fliehr, all of Charlotte, NC.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at The Carriage Club, 5800 Old Providence Road, Charlotte, NC, with The Reverend Roger A. Lacatos officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the Carriage Club.
