Miss McPhail, a native of Mount Olive and the daughter of the late Harvey C. and Mary Benbow McPhail, had been a long time resident of Greensboro. She is survived by several nieces and nephews; Marianne K. Bishop and husband Robert of New Bern, Randolph McPhail King and wife Jackie of Kenly, Ben King and wife Martha of Mount Olive, Tom King and wife Debbe Zane of Charlotte, Olivia K. Strickland and husband Donnie of Goldsboro, and Sue K. Davis and husband Ronnie of Mount Olive; a special cousin, Mary Benbow Beach of Granite Falls, NC; eleven great nieces and nephews and 13 great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by a sister Martha White King.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the church of her upbringing, the First United Methodist Church of Mount Olive, and will be officiated by Dr. H. Dennis Draper, Jr. and the Rev. Elaine Swett. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive. After the committal, there will be a time of greeting amongst family and friends at the cemetery. The family is receiving friends at the home of Ben and Martha King, 235 Smith Chapel Rd., Mount Olive.
