Donald Lynn Puckett, 85, of Chattanooga, TN died at his home on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 with the same quiet dignity with which he lived his life, surrounded by those he loved.

Lynn was always known to be a gentleman. He was a private man, but his charm, talent and quick wit were a delight to all who were blessed to know him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the late John Virgil and Maude R. Puckett.

He was a graduate of Bright and Baylor Schools, and the University of Chattanooga where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Lynn grew up in Central Presbyterian Church, and after his marriage he joined First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

He owned Lynnhaven Motel from 1952 until its closing in 1998. He also retired from TVA Power Service Center, Central Laboratories after 25 years.

He served in the United States Navy during WWII and was stationed on the island of Saipan.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 54 years, Donna D. Puckett; daughters, Melinda P. White, Chattanooga, TN, Patricia (Peter) Johnson, West Palm Beach, FL, Mary (Frank) Stevenson, Rome, GA; son, Don Puckett, Pensacola, FL; seven grandchildren, Kate Burkhalter, Chuck Bottomley, both of Chattanooga, TN, Zach Johnson, Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Cecilia Johnson, West Palm Beach, FL, Joseph and Jacob Hammond, Gulf Breeze, FL, Patricia Lynn Gray, Atlant, GA and a nephew, Leroy Gibbs, Chattanooga, TN.

The family would like to offer their deepest gratitude to Dr. Marq Anz and special thanks to Memorial Health Care, Vicki Powell and Hospice of Chattanooga.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, The Salvation Army or the charity of your choice.
