Is Monday
Funeral services for Mrs. Charles Williams (Jennievie J. Williams) 48, of 313 N. Pike St, who was killed in the State Fairgrounds Colliseum explosion Thursday evening, will be held at the Sleeth Funeral Home at 10:00 am Monday. Rev. Lewis Wilson will officiate and burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends can call at the funeral home after 2:00 pm Sunday.
Another local area woman killed in the blast was Mrs. Thompson (Bernice) Tillison, 50, of Blue Ridge. At least 22 from the area were hurt and a score of more local persons escaped injury.
Mrs. Williams' husband, who received a broken leg, cuts and bruises in the explosion, was brought to Major Hospital from Indianapolis yesterday. The Williams were married on July 2, 1939.
A lifelong resident of Shelbyville, Mrs. Williams was a secretary and head bookkeeper at Sandman Brothers' office. The local firm will be closed Monday until noon.
Mrs. Williams was a member of the First Methodist Church and WSCS of the church.
Born here on June 3, 1915, Mrs. Williams also is survived by her mother, Mrs. Goldie (Clore) House of Indianapolis, and a brother, Darrell House of Frankfort. Her father, Ottis House preceded in death.
