Funeral services were Thursday, May 8, 2003, at 5 p.m. at the Earles Pentecostal Holiness Church. The Rev. Lloyd Ackerman and the Rev. Wyatt Cook officiated. Burial, directed by McKenzie Funeral Home, Andrews Chapel, was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Ackerman was born Aug. 1, 1919, in Williamsburg County, a son of Eddie Ackerman and Hallen Liza Ackerman. He was retired from the Georgetown Mill of International Paper Company Inc. He was a World War II Army veteran. Mr. Ackerman was a member and elder of the Earles Pentecostal Holiness Church where he served as a deacon for many years.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ozie Lambert Ackerman; and two grandchildren, Tammy Ackerman and Ronald David Ackerman II.
Surviving are two sons, the Rev. Lloyd Ackerman of Columbia, and Ronald David Ackerman of Andrews; three daughters, Mary Ann A. Richardson of Georgetown, Lois A. Davis of Andrews, and Shirley A. Lambert of Andrews; two sisters, Edith Wilson of Florence and Ruth Bazen Walker of Andrews; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
