Obituary:

Helen Blackwell, 72, of Chattanooga, died at a local hospital, Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004.

She was a retired school teacher from the Chattanooga public school system, a member/pianist for Prospect Baptist Church and other area churches.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Daisy Blackwell, and brother, Johnny Lee Blackwell.

She is survived by her devoted sister, Loretta (Millard ) Hill; sisters, Dorthy Johnson and Louise Stampler; two brothers, David (Patricia) Blackwell, Nathaniel (Mae Edith) Blackwell; devoted nephews, Gregory Hill, Tampa, FL, Sean (Rhonda) Hill, and Dr. Stephen (Kenya) Hill; other nephews, David Jr., Nathaniel, Reginald and Patrick Blackwell; devoted great-niece, Dana (Fred) Ramsuer; great-nephews, Ricky Hill, Quincy and Marcell Hill; cousins, the Starks, Lanes, Simmons families, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at noon Friday, at Prospect Baptist Church with the Rev. J.P. Trimble officiating.

Interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.

The body will lie in state after noon Thursday at the McCallie Avenue location of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Directors, (423) 265-4414.
