Service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Cox Funeral Home Benton Chapel with Bob Miller, pastor of South Georgia Baptist Church, and Jerald Chadwick, pastor of Central Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Onye was born May 23, 1934, in Dill City, Okla., where he was raised, and he graduated from Dill City High School. Soon after graduation, he married the love of his life, Dora Butler, on Dec. 16, 1955.
Onye embarked on a career as a railroad dispatcher before retiring from Santa Fe Railroad in 1993. After his retirement, he fell in love with computers and began to explore all the ways in which he could apply them to his life. His favorite project was using them to do an extensive research of both his and his wife's family trees.
Onye was an awesome husband, father and grandfather. One of his greatest joys in life was spending time with and loving on his family. He could always be counted on to be a good provider and was always there for his family. He was a member of South Georgia Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Clemmie Harrelson; two brothers, Richard Harrelson and Irvin Harrelson; a sister, Cleo Harrelson; and a son, Scott Harrelson.
