Babe Fatally Burned
Upsetting a pan of boiling water which was standing on a table, Mercedes Rose, 16 months old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Meyer of near Almond, was so badly burned that she died two days later. Mrs. Meyer had left the water standing in a pan after draining some potatoes and the baby succeeded in getting hold of the edge of it, tipping it over toward her. The water ran down her left side, badly burning her shoulder and chest. A physician was immediately summoned and dressed the burns that the infant failed to recover. The funeral was held from the Lutheran Church at Almond Village.
