AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. David J. Thompson, Sr. husband of the late Ruth Caroline Wilcox Thompson entered into rest Monday, December 29, 2008 at Heartland Hospice. Funeral services will be held Friday January 2, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. from Hillcrest Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Patteson officiating. Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum. Mr. Thompson was a retired accountant with the United States Post Office and Bookkeeper with Borden Dairies. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church where he was a member of the Kemmerlin Sunday School Class and worked in the kitchen on Wednesday night for many years. Mr. Thompson was a veteran of WWII. Survivors include his sons and daughters in law, David J. Jr. and Elizabeth B. Thompson, Joseph A. and Carol M. Thompson , his granddaughter, Brittany Ruth Thompson and his sister Faye Larson all of Augusta. Active Pallbearers will be Randy Radford, Wesley Saxon, Andy Sibley, David White, Jamie Golden and Rev. Clifton O'Bryan. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Kemmerlin Sunday School Class. Memorial contributions may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church 3045 Deans Bridge Rd. Augusta, Georgia 30906. Or Heartland Hospice 1365 Interstate Parkway , Augusta, Georgia 30909. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
