Lester Douglas Wayne Sunvison,90,
of Livingston, joined the Lord on
Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011. He passed
away at the Frontier Assisted Living
Community in Livingston.
Lester was born on June 18, 1921, in
Dodge, Texas, where he graduated
from high school in 1941. He enlisted
in the Army Air Corps on Sept. 2,
1942. He was honorably discharged
on Jan. 11, 1946. He married Marion
Rose Edwards four days later, on Jan.
15, 1946. Lester spent time in the
South Pacific and was in Okinawa, Japan,
when the bombs were dropped that ended
World War II. He earned several
medals while in the service.
Lester and Marion had two sons,
Douglas and Paul. Summer vacations were
spent traveling with his family. Lester
worked at Kelly Air Force Base in Texas
from 1947 to 1975 before retiring and
moving his family to Livingston. Lester's
father, Jonas, came to the United States
from Sweden in 1893 and in 2004, Lester
and his youngest son, Paul, went
to Sweden to visit family.
He enjoyed reading, fishing, camping and
was a past member of the
Rock Club in San Antonio, Texas, and the
Park County Gem and Mineral Club of
Livingston. Lester collected gems,
minerals and fossils from all over the
world.
He was an active member of his community.
He was the chairman of the National Gem
Show in 1964 and president of the ROTC
Parents Club from 1968 to 1970. He and his
wife owned and operated Sunnies Rocks and
Ceramics from 1977 to 1990.
Lester was a devoted father and husband.
He is survived by two sons,
Walter Douglas (Edna Mae) Sunvison, of
Oregon City, Ore., and Paul John (Stacy)
Sunvison of Livingston; three grandchildren,
and two great-grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his wife
in 2008.
He was the last of his generation of
Sunvisons to pass away and was proceded
in death by his parents, Jonas Olaf Sunvison
and Augusta Ulrika Nyman Sunvison; six
brothers, John W., Eugen, Howard, Milton,
Minard, Burl; and two sisters, Florence
Cathrine and Ethel.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial will
be held at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church
on Sunday, Aug. 28, at 1:30 p.m., with a
reception immediately following.

Correction: Lester was born in Brady,
McCulloch County, Texas, we weren't sure
of his birth, we had record of 3 different
places. Received his birth certificate
after his death - was confirmation of Brady.
He grew up in Melvin, Texas went to school
there and graduated in 1941.
