Born March 1, 1915 in Toledo, Ohio, she was the daughter of Walter and Lucy Mary (Foster) Koch. She married Walter C. Myland September 22, 1935 in LaSalle Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Frederick Behnar officiating. Rebecca and Walter lived most of their lives in Monroe.
She was a 1932 graduate of Monroe High School.
She retired in 1980 after seven years of employment as a language DISTAR Aide at Lincoln Elementary School. Before that she spent seventeen years as the manager of the cosmetic department at Federal Department Store and the previous ten years she worked at Weisel's Drug Store.
Mrs. Myland was a charter member of the Genealogical Society of Monroe County, secretary of the LaPlaisance Bay Chapter of the American Colonist, a member of the Nancy DeGraff Toll Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of the Rose Garden Club.
An active member of First Presbyterian Church for more then 50 years, she also served as the church's historian.
Rebecca moved to River Park Plaza where she was the news letter editor for nearly 10 years, started a Red Hat Society chapter and was a past queen of the chapter.
Surviving are two daughters, Carole A. (Hugh) Ferguson of Gillette, Wyoming and Becky J. O'Bryan of Monroe; a brother, Ted (Rose) Koch of Grand Ledge; nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Koch, two sisters, Margaret West and Lucy Olson; a son-in-law, Michael O'Bryan and a great grandchild Michelle Ellis.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church or Monroe Cancer Connection.
