Jacqueline "Jackie" D. Adkins, age 83, of Hogan Street, Hudson, died Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Lenoir HealthCare Center. She was born February 1, 1928 in Watauga County to the late Flossie Potter. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by first husband, Hurl Stevens; second husband, Lex Adkins; one sister, Betty Lou Grubb; and one brother, Archie Potter.
Mrs. Adkins was retired from Singer Furniture Company and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two sons, Junior Stevens of Hudson and Joe Stevens and wife Karen of Lenoir; two daughters, Janie Scott of Lenoir and June Stevens of Hudson; two sisters, Jo Curtis of Raleigh and Sue Winebarger of Boone; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Jim Lee. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens of Lenoir.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Chad Stevens, Brian Stevens, Ashley Stevens, Bobby Clement, Jimmy Grubb, Cliff Luster and Joey Dillard.
Honorary pallbearer will be Tyler Chester.
