General Sir John Henry Lefroy KCMG, CB, FRS. Son of Rev. John Henry Lefroy. He firstly married Charlotte Anna Dundas, daughter of Lt.-Col. Thomas Dundas of Fingask and Charlotte Anna Boultbee, on 12 May 1860. He secondly married Emily Merry Robinson, daughter of Sir John Beverley Robinson, 1st Bt. and Emma Walker, on 16 April 1846.


John Henry Lefroy worked extensively on a British project studying the earth's magnetic field, mostly in Canada; was made a member of the Royal Society; helped found the Royal Canadian Institute; was a reformer within the British Army; was appointed Inspector General of military schools; became Governor of Bermuda; and became Administrator of Tasmania.


Mount Lefroy near Lake Louise, Canada, is named after him.
