Dr. Raymond Orlando Hill, age 84, of Centralia, died at 8:05 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at Centralia Manor.

Raymond was born on May 22, 1927, in Ramah, Colorado, the son of Raymond Benjamin and Nellie Muriel (Venable) Hill.
Dr. Hill is survived by special friend — Joy Kay Glenn of Centralia, 2 sons — Dwight Steven Hill and wife Jana (Bond) of Cary, N.C., Mark Allen Hill and wife Michelle of Centralia, 3 daughters — Nancy Lea Schwab and husband James of St. Louis, Mo, Pamela Jean Hill of Madison, Wisconsin, Patricia Ann McGinn and husband Michael of Carbondale, 3 brothers — "Doc" Allen Hill and wife Helen of Suring, Wisconsin, Dr. Wayne Hill of Lehi, Utah, Charles Hill and wife Phyllis of Haysville, Kansas, 2 sisters — Sarah (Sue) Biemert and husband Robert of Green Bay, Wisconson, Gerre Nell Budzinsky of Texas, 10 grandchildren — Sarah Schwab, Matthew Schwab, Jesse Schwab, Kristine Hill, Alyssa Hill, Alexander Hill, Katherine McGinn, Christopher Hill, Erin Hill, Townsend Hill, 2 great grandchildren, sister-in-law — Jo Ann Hill of Joplin, Mo., brother-in-law — Harry Snodgrass of Lake Sherwood, Mo., daughter-in-law Thais Tanis Hill of St. Joseph, Michigan, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son — Michael Ray Hill, brothers — Merle Hill, Larry Hill and James Hill, and sister — Ramona Snodgrass.

Dr. Hill was a veterinarian who served as director of the Illinois Department of Agriculture Animal Disease Lab. He was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ, served on Deaconete and board of trustees, board of Christian education, past president of Central City Lions Club, Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association past president, member of VFW Post 2055 and American Legion Post 446 honor guard. He lived in Centrala since August of 1967.

Dr. Hill served in the United States Navy during WWII.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, at Irvin Funeral Home in Centralia with Rev. Lisa Hart officiating. Friends may call Thursday from 9 a.m. until time of service. Military rites will be accorded at the funeral home by VFW Post 2055 and American Legion Post 446.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 12, 2011, at Barton City Cemetery in Barton County, Mo.
Memorials may be made to the Central City Lions Club or St. Peters United Church of Christ and will be accepted at the Irvin Funeral Home, who is in charge of arrangements.
