RUBY MAXINE SVARTOIEN, 83 ROCKFORD - Ruby Maxine Svartoien, 83, of Rock-ford died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, in Rockford Memorial Hospital, after a long illness. Born Nov. 14, 1925, in Warren, Minn., the daughter of Kathryn and Mike Onderko. She had been a resident of Rockford since 1946. Survived by her husband of 63 years, Lester Svartoien of Rockford; sisters, Betty Pollock of Albion, Pa., and Hazel Brown of Ashburn, Va.; devoted nieces and nephews; and a host of dear friends. Predeceased by her brothers, Leo and Pete. Service at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, in Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park. Visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
