"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; And they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

Jack Raymond Adams, 82, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Korea for the country he loved. Jack retired from Mason-Dixon Lines, Inc. after 34 years service. He was an officer of the Retirees Club of Teamster Local 549 and a member of the American Legion.

Jack was a member of Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, choir member and church treasurer. Jack loved God, cherished his family and adored his grandchildren and his great grandson, Eli.

Jack was a friend to many and always ready to make new ones. He rarely forgot a name. He had a quick witty sense of humor and liked to spend time listening to others. All his life he loved to spend time with seniors. He said he learned plenty sitting at their feet.

Jack loved to travel, particularly on bus tours with his wife and friends. He was always ready to spin a yarn to entertain those on the trips.

Among his favorite vacation trips was a trip to Cooperstown, New York to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame. He loved the game of baseball and was a very good player in his youth. He loved to coach his boys in the Vermont Little League.

Jack was preceded in death by his father, George W. Adams; mother, Lona Light Adams; half brothers, William "Bill" and Noah Adams; half sisters, Mamie Perry, Ella Barker and Ada Lunsford.

Jack leaves behind his loving wife of nearly 55 years, Frances Smith Adams; sons, Mark Alan and Steven Eric and his wife, Barbara; a daughter, Mitzi Anne Pearson and husband, T.J.; his granddaughters, Stephanie Wall and husband, Jason, Tamra Rossie, Sara Adams and Kellie Adams; his grandson, Ricky Curran and wife, Whitney; one great grandson, Eli Ryder Wall.

The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm on Friday August 5, 2011 at Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church, 2313 Portland Avenue, Kingsport, TN, 37660.
