C. N. Alleger, about 60, died last evening in St. Mary's hospital where he was taken two days ago by police who picked him up, violently ill with what appeared to be poisoning or drugs, at a Colorado avenue rooming house. A doctor indicated death was due to probable natural causes. Alene Krohn, county coroner, said she "couldn't tell" whether an autopsy would be held until after she "taked[sic] to a son who lives in the country and to Sheriff Lumley." Police were called, they said, when others in the rooming house found Alleger walking around without his clothes on, in a dazed condition. He spent one night at the police station and then was taken to the hospital. Receipt books found on him showed he had been soliciting subscriptions to magazines in the Grand Junction area the last few weeks.
