from the Wamego Weekly Times, Feb. 18, 1916:
"Benjamin R. Davis passed away at his home in Wamego, Monday, Feb. 14, 1916. Mr. Davis had been afflicted with heart trouble for about four years. After much suffering, borne with patience and fortitude, he finally succumbed to the malady. The deceased was born in Indiana, June 3, 1849. He was married in St. Joseph, Mo., to Ida Blacketer. To them were born 16 children, six of whom passed on before their father. Mr. Davis lived in or near Wamego for 15 years, and during this time, made many loyal friends, who join with the family in sincere regret over his long illness and his removal from their circle. Mr. Davis held membership in the Christian church for a long number of years. The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon from the home and was conducted by Rev. John M. White, pastor of the Baptist church. Interment was made in the Wamego Cemetery."
