Frances Celeste Pickett, 58, went to be with the Lord on July 30, 2011 after a long battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 2, 2011 from the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church Jackson. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow the service in Lakewood Cemetery.

Celeste graduated from Wingfield High School in 1970. She attended Hinds Community College where she majored in vocal music and was very active in choir.

She was a longtime resident of Jackson and a member of First Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and enjoyed teaching Sunday School. She was a member of the Black Rose Theater of Brandon and The Children's Community Theater for many years, both of which were very dear to her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Whatley, and her brother Kenneth Whatley, Jr.. She is survived by her only son Kenneth David Pickett, as well as numerous friends who will miss her dearly.
