Melvin M. McCombs, 91, of Louisville, Ky., died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, in Louisville, Ky.
He was born Aug. 12, 1922, in Edmonson County, Ky., to Milton W. and Maude Smith McCombs. He served in the Navy during World War II. He retired as a self-employed mason. He was a member of Cedar Hill United Baptist Church, Post 200 of the American Legion and the Brick Layers Union.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Inez M. Bird McCombs; one son, Larry McCombs; his parents; three brothers, Van McCombs, Ed McCombs and June McCombs; and one sister, Ola Mae McCombs.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Patton Funeral Home Brownsville Chapel in Brownsville, Ky. Burial will be in Fairview United Baptist Church Cemetery in Brownsville, Ky. Military honors will be conducted graveside by Nesbit Alexander Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6937.
Friends may call at Owen Funeral Home in Louisville, Ky. Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. and at Patton Funeral Home in Brownsville, Ky. Sunday from 10 a.m. until the service.
