Joseph Reynolds Boyd

Funeral services for Joseph Reynolds Boyd of Poplar Creek will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, at Oliver Chapel, with burial following in the Poplar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery at Poplar Creek, with military honors at graveside. Minister Dennis Russell will officiate the services.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 30, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.

Mr. Boyd died on Thursday, July 28, at Grenada Lake Medical Center in Grenada. He was 87 years old.

Mr. Boyd was the son of the late Ernest Amzi and Katie Reynolds Boyd. He was a retired farmer and carpenter and a member of Poplar Creek Presbyterian Church. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, a former member of the VFW, and a founding organizer of the Poplar Creek Fire Department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Arvanell Burdine Boyd of Poplar Creek; daughter, Katie B. Burns and her husband, Thomas, of Kilmichael; three sons, Joseph Reynolds
"Butch" Boyd, Jr., and his wife, Linda Lee, of Marks, Earnest A. Boyd and his wife, Bonnie, of Pine Hill, Alabama, and Jimmy Dale Boyd and his wife, Linda Kay, of Bamako, Mali, West Africa; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
