Baseball umpire. John Grimsley umpired Minor League Baseball in the Northern League, Carolina League, Eastern League, Pacific Coast League, American Association, and International League. He also umpired one Major League game, game 1 of the 1970 National League Championship series. The Cincinnati Reds defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates in that game 3-0. Grimsley umpired with Fred Blandford, Hank Morgenweck, and George Grygiel in that game.
