Mountain Brook - Vivian Killebrew Bolen, of Mountain Brook, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, June 30, 2011. She was born December 11, 1931 in Anniston Alabama to James Homer Killebrew Sr. and Onzelle LaTaste Killebrew. She graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Commerce and Business Administration and was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She met her husband, Bill, of 57 years, there and they married on Valentine's Day of 1954. She was a member of Brookwood Baptist Church, where she served her Lord diligently on many committees. One of her favorites was the Flower Committee where she delivered flowers to the homebound and infirmed. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and friend, whose sweet spirit and kind acts of compassion will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Elaine Killebrew Evans (Tom), Mildred Killebrew Worsham (Allen) and by her brothers-in-law, Joseph Benjamen Bolen (Genevieve) and Frank Seay Bolen. Mrs. Bolen is survived by her husband, William Ossian Bolen; son, William Ossian Bolen Jr. (Patti); daughters, Mallory Bolen Whitaker (Dan), Jennifer Bolen DuBose (Brent), and Sandra Bolen Ballard (Rob). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kristin Leigh Bolen, William Kevin Bolen, Daniel Taylor Whitaker (Maggie), Andrew Tucker Whitaker, Mallory Evelyn Whitaker, Lina LaTaste DuBose, Lewis Brent DuBose Jr., Robert Henry Ballard III, William Payton Ballard, Vivian Carlisle Ballard; brothers, Alfred Lamar Killebrew and James Homer Killebrew Jr. (Gerry) and her sister-in- law, Frances LaGrone Bolen. A memorial service was held on July 5 at Brookwood Baptist Church and a private burial at Elmwood Cemetery, where her six grandsons served as pallbearers.
