Carlton Warren "Rusty" Stalnaker, 36, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at his home in Lewisburg of an apparent heart attack.
He was born July 31, 1967, in Randolph County, the son of Charles and Dorothy Stalnaker of Mill Creek.
He was married to Melissa Christian, who survives at Lewisburg.
Also surviving is one son, Blake Stalnaker, at home; one brother, Charles Stalnaker and wife, Linda, of Elkins; four sisters, Edna Mae Tacy and husband, Bob, of Huttonsville, and Bobbi Stalnaker, Debbie Smith and husband, Paul, and Carla Riegel and husband, Mark, all of Mill Creek; three nieces, Tina Tacy, Karrah Riegel and Claire Smith; and four nephews, Robert Tacy II, Paul Smith III, Jonathan Riegel and Keith Holsberry.
Preceding him in death were one sister, Theresa Lynn Stalnaker; and a special aunt, Claire Mae Stalnaker.
Rusty was a graduate of Tygarts Valley High School and a U.S. Army combat veteran of the Gulf War. He served as a sergeant with the 82nd Airborne Division.
He worked as a correctional officer for the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins, and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Enon Baptist Church in Frankford with the Rev. Steve Barnett officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
