He graduated from Escalon High School in 1946.
Mr. Tune served in the Korean War as a radioman.
He and his wife, Dorris, made Twain Harte their home in 1955 when he went to work for Harold Peterson as a carpenter. He worked for various contractors in the area until 1969, when he became a licensed contractor and established Tune Construction.
His service to the community included multiple reconstructions of the Twain Harte Arch, working as a volunteer on the original construction of the Twain Harte Golf Course and Clubhouse, of which he was a charter member, and the construction and multiple reconstructions of the Twain Harte Eproson Park field, bleachers, snack-shack, children's park and restrooms.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorris Tune; children and their spouses, Cyndy Tune, of Newman, Genna Briscoe and husband, James, of Twain Harte, James Tune and wife, Stacy, of Twain Harte, and Joseph Tune and wife, Diane, of Hickman; grandchildren, Amber and Michael Brennan, of Tuolumne, April and David Reinhard, of Vallejo, Jeffrey and Moriah Briscoe of Manhattan, Kan., Katrin Briscoe, of Germany, Spring and Matthew Maddox, of Tuolumne, Justin and Heidi Tune, of Madison, Wisc., Jessica Tune, of Twain Harte, Schyler Tune, of Hickman, and Shiloh Tune, of Hickman; 12 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Louise Cardoza, of Manteca, Mary Nepote, of Ripon, Annabelle Martin and husband, Hubert, of Escalon, and Irene Butler, of Escalon.
Mr. Tune was preceded in death by his parents George and Anna Elizabeth Tune; one son, Jeffrey Dean Tune; brothers, Ruben, Jason, Everett, Paul, and Norman Tune; and sister, Pauline Davis.
