Richard Fox married Blanche Henderson on 10 Sep 1938 in Chattanooga. Richard was in the wholesale grocery business in Chattanooga with his father and uncle. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and became a Master Mason in the Alhambra Shrine. Richard and Blanche were longtime residents of Chattanooga where they raised two children:
