Randolph Lee Shifflett, 81, of Elkton, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at the Bridgewa­ter Retirement Home.

Mr. Shifflett was born Oct. 21, 1929, in Rocking­ham County, and was the son of the late Leonard and Ardella Cash Shif­flett. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Loyise Shifflett, and a sister, Frances Shif­flett.

Randolph worked as a maintenance mechanic for DuPont, and retired in 1985 after 35 years of service. He enjoyed spending time at home with his family, gardening and had a variety of inter­ests and hobbies.

On Jan. 27, 1954, he married Dorothy Liskey Shifflett, who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Doug Shifflett, Mark Shif­flett and wife, Rebecca, all of Elkton, and Leslie Shif­flett and wife, Jane, of Har­risonburg; two daughters, Paige Shifflett of Shenan­doah and Brenda Babing­ton and husband, Robin, of Elkton; a sister, Evelyn Lu­cas of Elkton; six grand­children, Eric Babington, Amanda McQuain, Monica McQuain, Spencer Shif­flett, Cole Shifflett and Meredith Harsh; and two great- grandchildren, Ellie Babington and Elizabeth Harsh.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2011, at the Kyger Fu­neral Home Chapel in Elk­ton, with the Rev. Debra Huffman officiating. Burial will follow in the Elk Run Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8 p. m. at the funeral home.
