B.H. SPRY PASSES AFTER LONG ILLNESS.
After several years of declining health, the past few months spent as an invalid, B.H. Spry, aged and respected citizen of Appleton City, passed away at the family home, Sunday, March 12, 1939. He was 84 years, 7 months and 28 days of age.
Benjamin Henry spry was born August 17, 1854, near Delaware, Ohio, a son of Isaac and Catherine Spry. While yet a small boy, he moved with his parents to Illinois, where he grew to manhood.
In 1878 he was married to Mary Wishard, who died of typhoid fever two months after the marriage. On January 4, 1882, he was married to Lydia Wishard, a sister of his first wife. After his marriage, he moved to Missouri, where he made his home until his death. He became a christian in early manhood and was active in the Lord's work throughout his life. He was a charter member of the Deepwater Christian church, and of the Center church. He has held fellowship with the Appleton City Christian church for the past twenty years.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Catherine Downer of Appleton City, and Mrs. Florence Arnold of Beggs, Oklahoma, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Christian church, conducted by Rev. D.C. Dick, assisted by Rev. G.A. Moss, and interment was made in Appleton City cemetery.
