Mrs. Lois Irene Nelson Scism, 84, formerly of Thomasville died June 20th, 2011 at Westwood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Archdale. Mrs. Scism was born June 30th, 1926 in Stokes County, a daughter to Eli and Recie Flinchum Nelson. A resident of this area most of her life, she was retired from Jeanette Maternities and a member of Oak View Baptist Church. In 1944 she married Chalmers Scism who preceded her in death in 1992. She was also preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters. Surviving is a daughter, Rebecca Ann Johnson of Thomasville; a son, Billy Scism and wife Connie of Archdale; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two step-grandsons. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and other times at the home of her daughter, 413 Haywood St. Thomasville NC.
